Will Programmer for 2008 Lincoln Navigator Allow You to Change Shift Points For Towing

Question:

I tow a 6,000 pound trailer with a 2008 navigator. my problem is that in drive it constantly shifts between 5th and 6th gear at highway speeds, while disengaging overdrive s to 4th which res the engine to high 3000rpm. The ideal gear seems to be 5th but there is no way to lockout 6th gear. will this programmer enable me to use 5th gear constantly without upshifting to 6th?
