What is Needed to Add Brake Controller to 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With Factory Tow Package
Question:
I already have a Jeep dealership installed 7-pin harness for towing an RV. now I need to add a break controller and Jeep wouldnt do it because its not theirs. They dont make one for this Jeep. Is it a simple thing to add a brake controller once the 7 pin harness is installed? A truck accessory mechanic said he could do it if it was plug-and-play. Meaning, if there was wiring just behind the dash ready to accept a break controller.

Since you have a 7-way already, there is one option for a brake controller for your 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that does not require any additional wiring whatsoever, the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.
This will simply plug into your 7-way and you set it up with your smartphone and that's all there is to it, so this is definitely the route I recommend as it will save you from having to pay for the controller and then for mechanic to do an install.
Otherwise, the wiring is behind the dash but some models of your Wrangler Unlimited require a wiring kit to run wire to the battery, and may need to have a hole drilled in the firewall to run the wire, so you'd need Wiring Kit # 5506.
You would then be able to install a brake controller and harness, the Brake EVN # TK63VR with Harness # 20127.
I have added a link to a video review of the Echo on a Wrangler Unlimited for you to check out as well.
