Recommended Roof Rack to Use Thule Hullavator On Subaru Outback

Hi, I have two Subaru outbacks 2012, 2017 and would like to purchase a Thule hullavator Kayak carrier I was told that factory roof rack is not compatible . What crossbars/ roof rack system do we need to purchase to accommodate the Hullavator? It would be nice if there was one that fit both cars.

It will then match up perfectly with the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier part # TH898. That said, it is correct that you cannot use the factory crossbars since these don't provide the needed overhang.
