Can the Pop and Lock Powered Tail Gate Lock be Opened if it Fails in the Locked Position
Question:
Once electronic tailgate lock is installed, what happens if theres an electronic failure? If a part internally fails or breaks and truck has a bed cover how do you get into the truck bed or open tailgate. Does this electronic tailgate lock come with keys in case of a failure or malfunction?

Presumably if you have a bed cover of some kind, even if it locks, you would be able to open it because it has its own separate keys. Then you would get into the bed and have to remove the access panel on the tail gate to disengage the lock.
If for whatever reason you could not get into the truck bed my contact at Pop and Lock said there are 2 possible options. First, if it is a mechanical issue and not an electrical one, a locksmith may be able to jimmy the latches on the sides of the tail gate in the small gap between the tail gate and the truck body.
If it is an electrical issue, you can unplug it at the bottom of the tail gate and use a separate 12 volt battery to get the unit to actuate to the unlocked position. This is if the electrical issue was forward of the lock (like a dead battery).
My contact also stated that they have had only 1 case where something has failed and they were able to unlatch the tail gate on the sides like I described in the first option.
This tail gate lock does not have keys, it works by allowing or not allowing the mechanism inside to move and unlatch the tail gate.
