Recommended Solution to Help Fight Sway with Weight Distribution Hitch Installed on Large Trailer

Question:

I have a 37ft travel trailer that has a GVW of 11,300lbs with a tounge weight of 1,314lbs. My town vehicle is a 2019 Ram 3500 dually, when pulling in any kind of wind the trailer sways really bad to the point you have to greatly reduce speed to regain control. I due use the friction type weight distribution hitch already. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also the fresh water tank is on the rear if this trailer. 60 gal capacity which is roughly 500lbs reducing the tounge weight to under 10 of the GVW....... thanks

Part of what you're experiencing just has to do with how the weight in your trailer is distributed-mainly a full water tank at the rear of the coach; especially one that size and even when used with a WD system with sway control like the # RP26003. I would first say that if you can avoid traveling with a full water tank as often as possible, that's probably a good place to start (obviously that's not always possible).

With that said, since you're already using a weight distribution hitch, you may want to look at adding a vehicle suspension enhancement to help further. I recommend using the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA23 which will further help with the sway you're experiencing by stiffening up the rear on your 2019 Ram 3500. These springs are designed to reinforce your vehicle's rear suspension with extra leaf springs that prevent sagging and reduce sway by up to 30 percent.

I've linked a video that shows more about the Super Springs that you may want to have a look at.
