When installing the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 on your 2006 Chevy Colorado you'll plug in your existing 4 way to provide the signal for the lights and then you will need to run additional wires for the 12v power source and the brake controller wire.

The 12v wire will need to connect to the battery and you'll need to run the brake control wire up into the engine compartment as well, but it will run through the firewall into the area in front of the pedals. You can take a look at the attached video of a brake controller installation in a newer Chevy Colorado, but the process will be the same. You will need to use a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 in order to find the stop light switch to connect the brake controller wire to. Once you've determined the correct wire functions you can splice into them into the # 20127 adapter that comes with the Draw-Tite # 5100.
