Compatibility of Yakima Skybox 21 and 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit

Hi, I have the box and I installed it on an after market cross bars. Everything is ok except my hatch doesnt fully open when the box is installed. Would you please recommend a crossbar that will resolve this problem? Thanks

The Yakima SkyBox 21 Rooftop Cargo Box - 21 cu ft - Black Carbonite # Y07337 requires 57 inches from the center of the front crossbar to your hatch seam to allow the hatch to open without contact.

The aftermarket crossbars are dependent on the style of roof you have on your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They have specific mounting locations so if you let me know what bars you have I may be able to specify where for you. You likely would need a different roof box for a fit but there is one alternative option I can think of.

If you need to alter the spacing you can use the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack - Vacuum Cup Mount - 48" Long # 298-SX6000B. This will allow you to mount the roof rack wherever needed to accommodate the hatch. I've attached a video to assist. These use vacuum cup mounts to secure to the bare roof. Each cup has a pull strength rating of 210 lbs so they are a great option if you need different placement.
