What Type of Bolts are Used for Trailer Leaf Springs
Question:
I got some double eye leaf springs to replace older ones. The bolts on the old springs also need replacing. What kind of bolt is needed for leaf springs? The springs are 1000 pound and will be supporting a trailer plus boat that weighs less than 1500 pounds total. Can I use zinc plated bolts form the hardware store, or do I need specialized bolts?

Expert Reply:
We have leaf spring bolts that were made specifically with features for the leaf spring application like the part # 126B2. This is the correct size has a knurled section right below the head of the bolt which helps with install and has a grease fitting that allows you to easily grease the bolt. This would be your best option.
