Installation of Blue Ox 88206 Flat Tow Adaptor Cable with Differing Center Pin Functions

Question:

In two different spots on the etrailer site, the center pin is designated as the 12v line and in another place it says it’s the electric brakes? The Blue Ox install sheet says the center is “Open” along with one of the outside pins. Trying to get a definitive answer on what is the center pin output?

Expert Reply:

The center pin of the 7-way is wired for a reverse light circuit. The Blue Ox wiring 7-way to 6-way has to do with 7-way trailer wiring circuits and reduces to the 6-way input wiring for the tow vehicle. The 7-way is labeled as open at the 7-way end center pin and there is not wiring attached to that pin location on the connecting harness which does use the other 6 function which will then match the 6-way input pin locations.

The Blue Ox Towing Accessories Kit for Ascent and Avail Tow Bars - 7-Wire to 6-Wire - 10,000 lbs # BX88308 you asked from will simply be installed following the standard pin locations for each connector. I've attached photos to assist and a couple videos.
