Availability of Trunk Mount Bike Rack to Fit 2017 Toyota Sienna and 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Question:

Hi - Im playing around with your search filters to see if I can find a 3 bike trunk rack that could be used interchangeably between our 2017 Toyota Sienna and our 2018 VW GTI. While I have failed to find any matches on your site, I do see several that claim to be for both Vans and Hatchbacks. I wonder if you can provide a recommendation, or tell me that Im crazy because what Im looking for doesnt exist? Thanks in advance!

We do have bike rack options that you can use for your application, but your findings are correct as there are no trunk mount bike racks that will fit both vehicles.

If you want to stick with trunk mount racks then the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top # HRF2-3 is what I recommend for your 2017 Toyota Sienna, and the Thule Gateway Pro 3 # TH78VR is what I recommend for your 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI. Both of these racks are the best fits for your vehicles and I know they will perform the best.

For something that will fit both vehicles we'll need to go off the beaten path a little and use the SeaSucker Bomber Roof 3 Bike Rack # 298-BB3008. This mounts on your roof with vacuum cups (much stronger than any suction cup) which means it can easily be transferred between your current vehicles as well as future vehicles. This rack only weighs in at 16 lbs and the main section measures 41" long x 11" wide so it can easily be stored just about anywhere!
