Curt MV Weight Distribution Hitch for 10,000 lb GVWR Trailer

17051 WD hitch I have a 7700# trailer dry weight with 950# TW weight and 2100 # cargo capacity will the 17051 ride to stiff

For your trailer, which has a GVWR of nearly 10,000 lbs and a 950 lb dry tongue weight, the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17051 you mentioned is well under the capacity so it would not be a good option. It is for total tongue weights up to 800 lbs so won't ride stiff, it simply won't give you any benefit at all, but we do have the right system for you.
What you need instead is the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17057.
This system is going to be perfect for your 10,000 lb trailer, as it is designed for total tongue weights between 1,000 lbs and 1,400 lbs. Tongue weight is about 12 percent or so of a trailer's GVWR and the right weight distribution system is one in which your tongue weight is in the middle of the system's capacity.
The # C17057 does require a hitch ball, and the correct one is the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.
