Can Older MX Bars be Matched to New Style Base Plate Kit for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I have a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar that I want to use to tow a 2017 Grand Cherokee behind a motor home. I have the removable parts of the 1428-3 base plate but the other parts got left on the old vehicle. Is it possible to buy just the part that bolts onto the frame of the Cherokee? Thanks!

Since the Roadmaster arms that you currently have are from the older MX style 1428-3 base plate kit you will need to purchase and entirely new base plate kit for your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee because the MX used a square tube for the arms but all of the new kits use a round tube. The equivalent of the MX style for your 2017 Grand Cherokee is the Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521440-5.

This will pair up directly with your Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
