How Resistant Are etrailer 6000 Watt Portable Generators to Rainfall
Question:
Hello, I bought two 3200 etrailer firmans and the parallel kit that I use with my 5th wheel. Can these generators be used in heavy down pour rain? The manufacture paper work says not to wash with water. Please let me know. Thanks

It's not recommended that the generators be exposed to a downpour, but it happens all the time and typically doesn't cause much of a problem as long as the generators aren't submerged.
A popular solution is to simply lay a piece of scrap plywood over the top of the generator and weight it down with a rock, which will offer enough protection from rain. Another good solution is to go to your local discount store and pick up an inexpensive small tent or portable canopy. We don't carry them, but there are actually purpose-built generator tents out there. You can find one of them by doing a Google Search. Any of these methods will provide sufficient protection. Folks routinely use generators of this type during natural disasters like hurricanes without ill effect.
