Installing a Tekonsha P3 Electric Brake Controller on a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg

Question:

The techinical bulletin that came with my P3 indicates that I should connect the red barke signal wire from the P3 to the black/red wire from the brake pedal switch and I cant find that wire or switch as opposed to connecting through the factory plug. This stops the display issue with the P3, according to the bulletin delivered with it. Can you help me with where the brake swicth wire - black/red is in the touareg, or is using the relay method shown on your website an option? Thanks for any help you can provide.

We have an FAQ article that covers this exact issue. I have included a link to it for you. The FAQ has pictures that show where you will look for the factory wiring in question. The relay method is required when installing the P3, # 90195. Relay # TR38665 could be used but you can probably get one locally which would be quicker. Then just follow the instructions in the FAQ and the P3 should work as normal.
