What is the Compressed Length of the Taylor Made 36 Inch Gas Strut
Question:
I need a set of these for my homemade tear camper rear hatch. My questions are: Is the 36inch extended or compressed? If extended what is the compressed dimension. Is the 90# the weight it supports or the force required to open it or close it?

The Taylor Made # 3691871-90 has a compressed length of 36" and an extended length of 50" when measured from the center of one ball joint to the other. The 90-lbs compression force means that it will require 90-lbs of force to compress the shock back down, so it's a great choice for holding up a rear hatch on a tear drop camper when you're using 2 of them.
There are a number of different compression weights available, so I've linked all of the 36" struts to this answer in case you're needing something a little more heavy duty.
