How Much Solar Power do I Need for my Camper for Boondocking

Question:

I have a 97 Ford E350 22 foot class C motorhome. I have only one house battery. Im using a Vmax SLR 125. Battery/charging tank. Wondering what solar package would work for me. Boondocking , NOT just maintaining charged battery. Thank you for your time.

It really is going to depend on the demands you put on your battery. The 125 amp hour capacity of your battery is a great storage solution so your goal will be to put back into the battery what you are taking out of it.

Take the Go Power Weekender ISW RV Solar Charging System part # 34282183 it replenishes about 9.3 amps per hour for total of about 55.8 amp hours per day. Using 55 amp hours in a day would be low to moderate use of your appliances. If your demands were greater than that you would add the Go Power Overlander Expansion Kit part # 34282182 to get up to 111.6 amp hours being recharged per day this will be more heavy use situations.

So the short answer is that it depends on how much power you use to determine how much you need. The recommended kit has everythingy you will need to convert over to a self reliant solar system. Should your needs be greater or lower please let me know and I will be happy to recommend something based on your needs.

I have included a FAQ article that goes over common appliances and how to determine your needs for a solar system.
