Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2007 Jeep Liberty with Factory 7-Way
Question:
I plan purchasing either a P2 or P3 Tekonsha brake controller. I own a Jeep Liberty 2007, 3,7L with manual transmission and factory wiring and 7-pin connector installed. Is there a factory connector available or Ill still need doing hard wiring as mention in another question and answer Will the same apply for my Jeep Liberty 2007 with factory wiring? I know there is definitely a unused light green wire under dash which goes to rear 7-pin connector so I guess this will be the output from brake controller.

You will need to do some hardwiring to install a 2007 Jeep Liberty even if it has a factory 7-Way trailer connector. You will use that light green wire you have mentioned and attach it to the blue wire on the brake controller.
The brake controller white wire will need to go to the negative battery terminal. The red wire will need to connect to the cold side of the brake switch. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to test the brake switch wires. You need the one that only shows a signal when the brake pedal is pressed and not when the turn signals are on or when the headlights are on.
The black wire will need to connect to the positive battery terminal via a circuit breaker. Routing the black and white wires may require drilling through the firewall. You can use an installation kit like # 5506 which has a 30 amp breaker.
Between the 2 controllers you mentioned if you are new to brake controllers go with the P2, # 90885, because it is easy to set up and use. The P3, # 90195, has more features, options, and diagnostics if you decide to go that route.
