Comparing RoadActive Suspension for 2018 Ford F-150 4-Wheel Drive

Question:

Hello! Im interested in the Roadmaster Active Suspension. It will be installed on a 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat 4WD. I noticed several different models for the RAS. Looks like there is one for 2WD, 4WD and one heavy duty and not heavy duty. Whats the difference and which model will be correct for my truck? Thank you.

The differences between the 2WD and 4WD versions of the RoadActive Suspension Kit is simply the installation; so you are going to want the models that fit your 4-wheel drive 2018 Ford F-150, of which you pointed out there are standard and heavy-duty versions:

- Standard: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y

- Heavy-Duty: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit - Heavy Duty # RAS3611-YHD

The differences are pretty simple, as the heavy-duty version is designed to be used if your truck is towing and has a tongue weight of 600 lbs or more and experiences quite a bit of squat (more than 2 - 3 inches). The HD version has greater tension in the springs, and is meant for if you are towing to very close to capacity with your 2018 Ford F-150.

So for most people, the standard version is going to be more than enough support, and likely what is going to be the correct kit for you. You have made a really good choice with the RAS because it is an active system which works to continually reinforce your original leaf spring suspension to improve your F-150's ride.

I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well of the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y and Heavy Duty # RAS3611-YHD.
