Will the Tubes on a Transmission Pan Cooler Get Clogged with Dirt, Mud, Snow, or Road Grime
Question:
Have you had any issues with cooling tubes filling with dirt, mud, snow or anything else?

Expert Reply:
I have not heard about issues with the tubes on a transmission pan cooler, like # D14208, getting clogged up with anything. However, I could see how that could happen if you are off road a lot or drive through tall snow banks. Every day road grime should not be a problem since the tubes have a diameter of 5/8 of an inch.
In the event that you suspect they might be clogged, take a peak to see if you can see through to the other side. If not, when the vehicle is cooled down something simple like running a hose to spray out any debris should be sufficient. Do not use anything abrasive like a wire brush because that could scratch the powder coat.
