First, you will want to consult the Jeep owners manual to determine the proper procedure for towing. If you find that you can flat tow the Jeep, there are 5 items you will need to flat tow your 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

First, you will need base plates to provide a secure attachment point for a tow bar. For your 2012 Wrangler, if you do not have an aftermarket bumper, you can use Demco base plates, # DM9519292. I have included a link to the installation video for you.

Next, you will need a tow bar. I recommend the Commander tow bar, # DM9511012, that's compatble with the base plates. This tow bar comes with the next part you will need, safety cables.

You will then need a lighting solution for the Jeep. I recommend the bulb and socket kit # RM-155. With this system, you will not need to cut into the vehicle wiring for installation though you will need to drill holes in the tail light housing to hold the bulbs.

And last, most states now require a supplemental braking system in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest systems to set up and use are portable systems like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the RV is braking, reducing wear and tear on both vehicles. You will also need the # RM-9332 to power the system.

I have included a link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing in a helpful link.
