Weight Distribution for Nissan Xterra Towing Jayco 1207 Camper with 185 Lb TW

Question:

I have an Xterra towing a Jayco 1207 1900# with 185# tongue weight. Although this is well within the Xterras limit of 5000# and 500# tongue weight I still notice some drag in the rear. Handling has always been fine however. Wondering if this hitch would take some of the drag out and is appropriate for this situation.

The Reese Light Duty Weight Distribution System you referenced, part # 66557 would work well for you if the trailer has an A-frame and if the fully-loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer plus the weight of anything stowed in the Xterra cargo area behind the rear axle does not exceed the 400 lb tongue weight capacity of the system. The weight of anything stowed behind the tow vehicle rear axle needs to be counted as tongue weight.

A weight distribution system will use the leverage provided by the spring bar to transfer a portion of the trailer tongue weight to the front axle of the tow vehicle. This will even the ride height between the front and rear axles and can improve front braking and steering performance.

The appropriately sized trailer ball with a 1 inch diameter threaded shank will be needed. For a 2 inch ball use part # 63845.
