If the tongue weight (TW) of your Airstream does not exceed the 1200 lb TW capacity of the Reese # 49570 system, the system would work for you. Be sure to include the weight of anything stowed in the truck bed behind the rear axle as tongue weight to determine if the TW of your Airstream does not exceed the system capacity.

A better choice would be the Reese Trunnion System with Dual-Cam Sway Control, part # RP66084, which is effective on trailers with tongue weights ranging from 600-1200lbs. Given the GWV of the 2012 Airstream 31 foot is listed as 10,000 lbs on their website, this system would work perfectly.

We have been selling the Reese system for years, and it is a great performer. Travel trailers are especially vulnerable to trailer sway caused by cross winds and turbulence caused by passing traffic, which is why I always recommend some sort of sway control. The Dual-Cam system literally prevents trailer sway before it can begin, which would make towing your Airstream around much less of a chore.

For a 2-5/16 inch ball for the Reese system, use part # 19286.
