Parts Needed To Use Curt Echo In 2011 Jeep Wrangler Without Any Trailer Wiring
Question:
I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler that does not have any trailer wiring. I am needing to tow a small trailer that will have brakes. I want to use the wireless curt brake controller, but what do I need to have the 7 pole plug that has power? I think I need a vehicle specific 4 pole harness, generic 7 pole plug, and a circuit breaker/fuse, but I need help with part numbers.

To use the Curt Echo part # C51180 on the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, you will need a Tekonsha 4-pole harness part # 118416 and an 4-pole to 7-way upgrade kit part # ETBC7L. The 4-pole harness plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side tail light so it is an easy install. The Tekonsha brand is also a very reliable wiring brand that lasts a bit longer compared to the other options.
The ETBC7L is designed for use with the Curt Echo. The Curt Echo only requires active turn/stop functions, running light function and an active 12V circuit on the 7-Way to operate. The kit comes with a 7-Way plug, bracket and circuit breaker that you need to install. You simply plug the 4-pole into the pigtail coming off of the 7-way, extend the black power wire from the plug to the vehicle's battery via the circuit breaker then ground the white wire. You can tuck the rest of the wires away. I have attached a few helpful videos for your reference.
