Is Camper Weight Decoded By VIN
Question:
Can I find out the weight of the camper by the vin number
asked by: Amy
Expert Reply:
The weight of a camper trailer is not decoded by the VIN. The manufacturer often keeps information like that based on your VIN in their records, but that isn't always done by some manufacturers because there are so many different trim packages. You may want to look for a trailer tag or sticker to give you some of that information.
If you can't find a sticker another way to get your trailer capacity is by the axle. The diameter will give you a good idea of the capacity but the spindles are even more telling. If your camper is a motorhome, then that information will be tracked by the VIN.
