The decision to go with a standard or folding carrier is a matter of personal preference. Being able to fold the carrier upwards by 90 degrees against the rear of the vehicle is a convenient feature for when the carrier is not being used, but you do not want to remove it.

One of our best selling folding cargo carriers is the etrailer # e98874, which is compatible with a 2 inch hitch receiver. It both folds and tilts! To determine if this carrier will work with your hitch, you will need to measure rearward from your hitch pin hole to the furthest rearward point of the bumper. If this measurement is less than 9-1/2 inches, the carrier will be capable of folding.

You will have a better chance of being able to open the hatch with the carrier loaded and in place using the tilting feature.

The etrailer Cargo Bag, part # e98990 will fit nicely on either carrier mentioned above. The carrier will protect your gear from rain, but we recommend wrapping anything that absolutely cannot get wet in plastic.

I have linked you to our cargo bag selection as well as some product demonstration videos that you might find helpful.
