Differences Between Hollywood Racks RV Rider and Sport Rider SE

Question:

What is the weight of the HLY64FR? I have a Class A motorhome with a 5K lbs hitch and plan on buying two E-bikes with a step thru style. Which bike rack should I buy HLY84FR or the HLY64FR RV? Can you compare the two racks for me.

The Hollywood Racks # HLY64FR weighs a bit above 70 lbs. Motorhome/RV compatible bike racks are built very sturdy for a reason. The relatively long overhang at the rear of the vehicle (when compared to that of a regular passenger vehicle) causes the rack much more bouncing and shock than would be experienced at the rear of a passenger car, truck or SUV. This bouncing is more severe on a towed trailer versus a motorhome, as a towed RV typically has a more rudimentary suspension that will have a rougher ride.

The # HLY64FR can be used on any type of vehicle but a towed trailer. While the # HLY84FR can't be used on a towed trailer. Either would work find on your Class A. Both racks have an 80 lb per bike capacity, but because the # HLY64FR has a rather unique sliding clamp system to attach the bike to the rack, which would make it much easier to use with a step through frame bike. For the # HLY84FR, you'll likely need two # 64005 frame adapter bars which would be sold separately.

If I were looking for a rack for bikes like you mention, I'd go with the # HLY64FR.
