Best Roof Mount Cargo Basket for 2018 Dodge Durango GT

I’m looking for a roof cargo basket for my 2018 Dodge Durango GT, but there are so many options it’s confusing. What is your best recommendation as I’m looking for size 74-84” and perhaps more lightweight or aluminum. Are steel racks more durable and carry more weight? Appreciate your input. Thanks

I totally understand how it can be confusing for you to look at all the roof mount basket options we have available, but I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

I'll start by saying that when it comes to the construction (aluminum vs steel), you are correct in saying that an aluminum basket is going to be the more lightweight option. However, as far weight capacity is concerned, you're going to be limited by the capacity of your roof before you're limited by the capacity of the basket. Most vehicle's roofs max out at 165 lbs, and we have aluminum and steel cargo baskets that are rated for that.

The longest aluminum roof basket we have is the Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket for Factory Rails - 84" Long x 50" Wide, part # SPS5084-1101.

It measures 84" long x 50" wide x 5" deep, which gives you plenty of cargo space. It has that 250 lb capacity I was telling you about. If you can do away with the shorter length, this is hands down your best option.
