What is the Weight Capacity of the Rightline Gear Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs
Question:
what is the weight limit on the foam rack? My YAK is 80+ pounds
asked by: MATT
Expert Reply:
The Rightline Gear Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # RL100K10 don't have a weight rating so you are limited either by the weight rating of your bare roof, or the roof rack that these will be installed on (which is usually 165 lbs).
With that being said, if you plan on transporting your kayak very far or transporting it frequently then I do recommend using something a little more solid like the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878, Yakima BigCatch # Y04091, or the Lockrack Watersport Carrier # LR54FR. All of these have slightly different loading options and require a roof rack to install, but they do all have at least a 100 lb weight rating.
