Preventing Flat Towed 2012 Wrangler Brake Light From Overriding Coach Brake Signal

Question:

I am concerned as to if a problem will occur due to a stop light signal being sent from my motor home and also from my 2012 Jeep Wranger will present a problem. I will be using the Blue Ox Patriot system that I purchased from you. Should I consider removing the stop light fuse from the Jeep while it is being towed? Thank you for your help.

If you turn the ignition key of the Wrangler to the Towing Position, and you step on the brake pedal and the brake lights light up, you will have interference problems.

I believe removing the stop light fuse would accomplish what you are trying to do, but the danger there is remembering to replace the fuse when you are ready to drive the vehicle. If your memory is anything like mine, this might be a bad idea, which is why we recommend using a Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, part # RM-88400. Installing the relay kit will prevent the on-board Patriot braking system from overriding or interfering with the brake signal sent from the motorhome.

Because the Patriot system communicates with the motorhome wirelessly, the install would be slightly different than what is shown in the wiring diagram shown on the product description page. I have edited a diagram that would apply in your case.
