What 7-Way Plug Is Required to Use Curt Echo on 2014 Nissan Frontier

Question:

Hi. I want to buy the Curt Bluetooth trailer brake controller for my 2014 Nissan Frontier SV, but am unsure whether to order the tow package version or the no tow package version. Could you let me know which one to get?

The Curt Echo Wireless Blue Tooth brake controller # C51180 is a great option with only one version. The reason it is listed as "with factory package" or "without factory package" is because you will need a 7-way plug with active turn signal/stop, running light functions and 12V circuit to use the Curt Echo. Depending on if your vehicle has a factory tow package or not determines which 7-Way plug is needed to use the Curt Echo. If you already have an active 7-Way you can just plug in the Curt Echo, set it up and you are good to go.

If your 2014 Nissan Frontier does not have a factory tow package, I recommend Tekonsha Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector part # 118266 which comes with the relays to activate the functions you need on the included 7-way plug to use the Curt Echo. I have linked a video of the installation for your reference.

If your 2014 Nissan Frontier does have a factory tow package but you don't have a 7-way plug, I recommend to use the Replacement Wiring Harness for Tow Ready Nissan Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118267 which is designed to replace the 7-way on the 2014 Nissan Frontier. The kit does not include the relays because if your Frontier Nissan has a factory tow package, the relays should already be there.

If you are not sure if your Nissan Frontier has the relays (factory tow package) you can remove the kick panel located in vehicle cab on the passenger’s side, there should be a 12 pin jumper wire with relays plugged in. If it does not have the relays, you will need Tekonsha harness 118266.
