Leaf Spring Recommendation for Trailer with 3,500 lb Axles that are 25-1/2 inches Long

Question:

my old trailer spring is 25 1/2 from eye center to eye center. should i use a 25 1/8 or 25 1/4 spring? my springs are on a car trailer with 2 3500lb axles . springs are 1 3/4 wide. also a buddy has 4 3500 lb 25 1/4 14000 lb total springs he isnt going to use and said i could have them for a case of beer LOL. i know it would be overkill to use the 3500 lb springs but they are cheep a case of beer!! what do you think??? thank you

Between the two lengths of spring that you mentioned honestly either would work decently but the more important factor is getting the capacity of the spring right for your trailer. 14k of spring capacity like what your buddy has would be way too stiff. Essentially you'd have no suspension at all as the springs would flex at all. You could weld the axles directly to the frame for the same effect. So your best spring is the # e54SR which is 25-1/8 inches long and has a 3,500 lb capacity. This will fit well and give you the performance you are looking for as well. You may know this already but springs tend to stretch over time as they wear out which is why when picking out new springs you go with ones slightly shorter than what the old ones measure.
