Solution for Extra Wire to Install Prodigy P2 in Center Console on 2015 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I purchased a Tekonsha P2 trailer brake controller and a Tekonsha wiring adapter #3040-P for my 2015 Tacoma based on a recommendation on the eTrailer website. The brake controller is being installed in the center console just above the cup holders and below the USB sockets there is a nice recessed area that the controller will fit into which is within easy reach. Unfortunately 3040-P wiring harness is too short by about 6”, but more comfortable would be 1 foot of extra length. Is there an extension cable that can be added between the black Tekonsha connector and the brake controller or do I have to cut/splice/solder to make the wiring longer yuck!?

The wiring adapter # 3040-P used to install the Prodigy P2 # 90885 to your 2015 Toyota Tacoma only comes in one length so you'll have to do some cutting and splicing to install the brake controller at the further location that you mentioned. Luckily you should have received the universal pigtail with the P2 controller so it's a simply matter of splicing the wiring in per color and you won't have any guesswork involved.
