Proper Inflation of # AM30153 Kenda 5.70-8 Tire on Pop Up Camper

Question:

I purchased 2 tires for my pop up camper. They were 5.70x8 your item #AM30153. The maximum pressure is 100 psi. The specs. on my camper for a 5.70x8 tire is 75 psi. The gross vehicle rate rating is 1600. Do I go with the max pressure 100 psi. on the tire or the manufactures spec. 75 psi. for these tires.

Helpful Expert Reply:

Because the tire's load capacity is tested at full pressure, you always want to keep your trailer tires fully inflated to the pressure listed on the tire's sidewall. The only exception to this is the Goodyear Endurance, which lists acceptable load ratings at different pressures. The # AM30153 tires you have should be kept at 100 psi as listed on the sidewall.

The danger with operating your Kenda tire at a lower pressure is that you'll have an unknown weight rating, which can lead to premature tire wear or failure.
