What is the actual distance of the receiver cross hole from the upright post?

The lateral distance between the hitch pin hole and the rear of the upright of the Swagman # S63360 Trailhead Bike Rack is 12 inches.
If your bike has a step through or hybrid style frame, an adapter bar like # 64005 is recommended. The adapter bar offers a level attachment point for the bike so it won't be carried at an angle that would reduce the ground clearance.
