Expert Reply:

We recommend using a Weight Distribution System if your trailer weighs more than 50 percent of the tow vehicle weight. In addition to eliminating the squat experienced when the trailer is attached, a weight distribution system can lead to performance increases in steering, traction, and braking while also decreasing trailer sway. This is accomplished by the leverage provided by the spring bars which transfer a portion of the trailer tongue weight to the front axle of the tow vehicle. Weight Distribution Systems are rated according to the tongue weight of the loaded trailer. In your case, I would recommend the High Performance Trunnion Weight Distribution System, part # RP66022. This system is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 600 to 1200 lbs.
