Will the Swagman Platform-Style Bike Rack # S64663 Keep Bike Away from Tailgate on Chevy Colorado
Question:
I own a chevy colorado pick-up,and was looking at this bike rack for our two bikes. My main concern is the proximity of the bike to the tailgate...I do not want the bike to scratch or dent back of tailgate while transferring bikes...Is there a decent amount of space between the bike and tailgate with this rack? Thank you

On the Swagman Platform-Style Bike Rack, # S64663, The center of your bike will sit 9 inches away from the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch and approximately 11 inches away from your tailgate. We haven't had the chance to test this bike rack on a Colorado yet, but these dimensions should give you an idea of how it will fit.
If you don't think that will work for you, then I suggest looking at the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z. This bike rack will extend your bike out another 3 inches, which is pretty good tailgate clearance as far as bike racks are concerned, and it has a rise in the shank which helps with ground clearance when going over curbs and steep inclines.
