Installing the Hopkins Trailer Brake Controller on a 2010 Chevy Silverado

Question:

My controller instructions only went up to a 2008 Chevy Silverado. I have a 2010 Silverado. I plugged the wires as best that I could per instructions and it does not show any power to the unit.

We actually have an FAQ that will help. I have included a link to it for you. On the 2010 Chevy Silverado, the tow package wires under the dash should have been held together with a white tag that also has the functions of the wires on it. There may also be some connections under the hood you will need to make to fully activate the controller. These connections are also covered in the FAQ.

We have determined that the connections need to be made as follows:

Truck Red/Black = Brake controller Black for Battery Power
Truck White = Brake controller White for Ground
Truck Light Blue/White = Brake controller Red for Brake Light Signal
Truck Dark Blue = Brake controller Blue for Brake Output to Trailer

If there is an orange wire do not connect it to the controller. It is not used so you can tape it up and tuck it out of the way.
