Recommended Disc Brake Kit and Replacement TieDown Model 70E Actuator for Load Rite Boat Trailer

Question:

Hi Carla, Thank you for the information... Some other information, not sure if it will help...we found a tag on the axle that says it is a 5500 lb max capacity axle and the axle is a torsion style, no leaf springs with 6 bolt wheel and 16 inch rim... Not sure how to tell if we have one-piece hubs with integrated rotors, but pretty sure we do...as opposed to the idler hub with slip on rotor...

The Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator # 099-175-20 is a direct replacement for your Tie Down model 70E disc brake actuator with a 7000 lb capacity (Tie Down was bought out by Dexter back in 2017).

Although I don't have a way of decoding your VIN, you should be able to call Load Rite and provide them with your VIN - they will be able to tell you exactly what kind of axle is on your trailer. If you can get back to me with your exact axle capacity and wheel bolt pattern, I will be happy to make a recommendation for a replacement disc brake rotor kit. If your existing disc brakes are one-piece hubs with integrated rotors (as opposed to idler hubs with slip on rotors), then I'll also need you to confirm which bearings and seal your hubs use.

Based on the information you provided, I can confirm that you have a 5,500 lb Tie Down Engineering torsion axle with #42 spindles. For a compatible replacement disc brake kit, I recommend the 5,200 to 6,000 lbs Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR526DKG. The kit includes two 12" Dacromet-plated hub-rotors with the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern you need, two KodaGuard-plated calipers, two Dacromet-plated caliper mounting brackets, and four stainless steel caliper mounting bolts. The inner and outer races come pre-installed on the hubs, but the bearings and seals are sold separately. For the inner bearing, use part # 25580 and part # 15123 for the outer bearing. For a pair of seals, use part # RG06-070. If you need new lug nuts, I recommend part # LHLR103.
