Is the BAKFlip FiberMax Tonneau Cover Compatible With Toolbox in Bed of GMC Denali 2500

Question:

I have a 2019 GMC HD Denali 2500 Short bed. It is primarily used for towing a Fifth Wheel with a Pullrite Superglide hitch. Truck also has an RDS 60 Gallon Fuel Tank Tool Box Combo. I am looking for a Tonneau Cover for use when Im not towing. I have been looking at the Bakflip but still not sure? My questions are: Does the short bed version have 3 or 4 panels? When folded all the way against the cab, how wide is the remaining panel could I get into the tool box? What would your recommendation be for this set up? Thank you

Great questions Brad. The BAKFlip FiberMax Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK126121 for the 2019 GMC Denali 2500 short bed has 3 panels. If the cover will fit with the tool box depends on how tall the tool box is. The BAKFlip hardware installs 3" below the bed rail so the the tool box would need to be at least 3" below the bed rail for the cover to fit. If your tool box is at least 2" below the bed rails and you remove the SuperGlide (18.5" tall) when not towing then the cover will work well for you. The depth of the panels folded up against the cab is 8" and 22" tall when folded against the cab, you should be able to use that measurement to determine if the toolbox will open.

If you do not want to remove the 5th wheel, the only option is to use a lower profile fifth wheel hitch like the Demco auto slide part # DM8550034 which can be adjusted down to 15-1/4". The Demco can be used in the industry standard rails that the Pullrite uses. If you have an OEM prep package, there is not a good option for a low profile autoslide hitch because the Demco requires a 2" tall adapter in the prep package.
