Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback
Question:
I have the 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback and just cant visualize the th65jv on my car. The ratcheting cables scare me, but I love how the th65jv holds the bikes. The fit guide says it will work, but will the weight effect the spoiler part coming down from the roof?

I do have a solution for carrying bikes on your Focus but if the vehicle has a spoiler then it is a no fit situation because the rack cannot be safely installed on the vehicle. The retractable cables are actually much more secure and easier to use than straps. The combined weight the # TH65JV and 2 average weight bicycles could also cause bumper deformation.
The safest way to carry bikes on your 2012 Ford Focus is to install a trailer hitch and use a hitch mount bike rack. For a trailer hitch the most popular option is Curt hitch # C11158(does not fit models with center exhaust). This is a Class I trailer hitch so you will need a Class I compatible bike rack.
The most popular Class I platform style bike rack is the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670. This rack holds the bikes at the wheels and frames. I have included some links on the bike rack and the hitch for you.
