Comparing Curt Hitches for a 2017 Toyota RAV4

Question:

Looking at Curt Ckass III hitch for my 2017 Toyota RAV4. I see that you have 2. C13149 and C13406. Whats the difference? Thanks

The differences between the between the Curt # C13149 and the Curt # C13406 for your 2017 Toyota RAV4 are that the 13149 has a visible crosstube and is rated for use with a weight distribution system while the 13406 has a concealed crosstube (for a more sleek look) and it isn't rated for use with a weight distribution system.

If you plan on towing I recommend using the 13149 but if you just plan on using it for recreational items like a bike rack or cargo carrier then I recommend the 13406 simply because it looks better. Let me know what you'll be using it for an I can make additional recommendations if necessary.

Does this come with the wiring for lights on a trailer?

Neither of the above-mentioned trailer hitches include wiring - this is actually the case with just about any hitch we have available. For your 2017 Toyota RAV4 the Tekonsha T-One Harness # 118578 will work perfectly.

@ChrisR I have a 2016 Toyota RAV4 XLE and both Curt models are the recommended fit. In the picture provided for the 2017 RAV4, the #C13406 hitch, did you need to cut into the fascia of the bumper or no? The hidden hitch does look better and has more ground clearance. I am only using the hitch to carry bikes, nothing else. Thanks.

The Curt # C13406 will require some fascia trimming on your RAV4 to allow that receiver tube to poke through. A more involved install process is the only downside of that nice hidden design.
