Can Length of Rod on T-Handle Latch Be Trimmed?

I dont need a 48inch rod. Can I cut these to length? Thank you!

The T-Handle Latch - Zinc Plated # PLR5710 will allow you to cut the bars to your desired length. The bars will attach to the handle only one way so you will simply need to trim the opposite end to length.
