Installation Tips for Curt Trailer Hitch # C11205 on a 1996 Honda Accord Wagon
Question:
Trying to install the curt hitch #11205 on a 1996 Honda Accord Wagon. Got holes drilled and bolts fished into place but couldnt get the hitch over exhaust pipe. Not enough clearance. Does exhaust need to be lowered to install this hitch? Does that mean its not an OEM muffler or placement?

The exhaust does not have to be lowered on a 1996 Honda Accord Wagon to install Curt Trailer Hitch # C11205. Given the age of the vehicle, there very well could be a different muffler on it or it could have had work done in the past and it might not have been put back exactly the same.
If lowering the exhaust will make the installation easier then you can do it. Place a strap or something to support the exhaust under it. Then remove the exhaust from its hangers letting it rest on the support. Put the hitch in position, tighten everything up, and re-hang the exhaust.
