Solution to Replace Obsolete Whispbar Fit Kit for 2009 Toyota Matrix with Naked Roof

Hello, I was wondering if this or something similar will fit on my 2009 Toyota Matrix. I just bought the Whispbars for you guys and would like to mount them without having to drill into the roof. It has no existing rails or crossbars. The original FitKit was the K480 but I remember seeing another FitKit that would replace that one and have not been able to locate it. Thanks!

The custom fit kit K453 for your 2009 Toyota Matrix is now obsolete and I confirmed through Yakima that there isn't one available that would replace it.

The also obsolete Whispbar Through Bars, WB-S16 or Whispbar Flush Bars, WB-S4 for your 2009 Matrix were designed to attach to your car with the above mentioned fit kit from Whispbar, so I couldn't advise installing them any other alternative way.

Unless you're able to somehow get your hands on a second hand custom fit kit, your best option is to go with a completely new roof rack system. The Thule Roof Rack, composed of part # TH711220 (crossbars), # TH480R (feet), and # THKIT1512 (fit kit), is the one I recommend. The custom fit kit allows for an easy clamp on installation that requires zero drilling into your Matrix's roof.

I also recommend picking up a set of Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders, part # TH450400, to protect your investment.
