Will the Sportrack J-Stacker Kayak Carrier work on Factory Cross Bars of a 2004 Toyota Rav4
Question:
My car currently has no roof rack or rails. I intend to purchase a factory OEM roof rack that has both rails and cross bars. I will be carrying two kayaks. Will this part SR5511 do the job. I assume Ill need two sets. My immediate concern is whether the factory roof rack cross bars are far enough above the roof to allow for the thumbscrew connection system to fit e.g. are the cross bars too close to the roof? Thanks.

If you ordered 2 SportRack J-Stacker Kayak Carriers # SR5511 like you referenced you would be able to carry two kayaks as long as the weight capacity of your roof is not exceeded. You should have enough clearance to tighten the thumbscrews to your roof rack as this rack is confirmed to fit your vehicle. You will need to check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine what that capacity is.
This rack is designed to fit most factory crossbars as long as the diameter of the cross bar is not larger than 3-1/2 inches and the cross bar spread is at least 24 inches. You will also need to make sure that the width of your cross bars is at least 50 inches in order to fit two of these racks on your roof.
