Is My 2016 Honda Pilot Trailer Wiring 7-way or Only 4-way?

Question:

Thanks Jason.....appreciate the info and suggested part. One f/u question. Even if my 2016 Pilot is a FWD vehicle, the existing wiring connection near the jack will support a 7 pin connector that will have power to the battery and operate the electric brakes? Thanks again!

Your 2016 Honda Pilot will have a trailer wiring plug behind the driver's side at the rear by your tail lights. I've attached a video of the Curt # C56291 harness to assist. The Curt wiring harness # CU86FR is the 7-way wiring harness that connects to the same location. Each kit activates the tow package already available in your vehicle, so I recommend installing the 7-way unless you know you will only ever use the 4-way. It is a little more work on the installation side but gives you options for other accessories.

On your 2016 Honda Pilot the FWD has nothing to do with the trailer wiring. The plug for trailer wiring will only give you the 4 way or possibly 5 way functions(which would include reverse lights). The 12V Power and the brake controller output would need separate wiring. If you use the 7-way then you would need # 5506 for the wiring along with a brake controller. If you use the 4-way then you will use kit # ETBC7 for the wiring and adapter. I've linked the page to your brake controller options. You will need a brake controller to use electric trailer brakes.
