Wire Functions of Replacement Wiring Harness for Firestone Level Command and Air Command
Question:
I bought a used truck that has the Dual Electric Air Command system installed but wasnt working when i bought it. A quick look at the harness shows that someone might have changed the configuration of the wiring and now it seems to blow fuses. I am going to replace the wire first. I didnt see the need to buy the whole harness because it is most likely a bad wire but i was wondering if you can post the wire diagram for the whole system so i can verify power is cycling correctly? The actual issue is the compressor turns on and runs fine, when pressure is achieved at the pressure switch the compressor turns off. about 40 seconds later the fuse blows. my first thought is the relay is not shifting but i had a similar relay and it still did the same thing, still not ruling the relay out and will be getting the same one later but i noticed on the image for your harness there appears to be a jumper on the connections so if you can explain that or show me a diagram that might help since my current configuration does not have that jumper wire. If you also have the answer to my issue that would be great and i can still order the harness if that is the only fix but would rather just replace a wire and redo the grounds if i can since i already have the wire to do it. The closest thing available to a wiring diagram of the Replacement Wiring Harness for Firestone Level Command and Dual Electric Air Command # F9307 are what is shown in the directions for the Firestone Air Command II # F2178 you have. I have posted those, as well as linked those directions.
What I can tell you is that on the harness the red wire will be for the battery, the white wire is going to go to the control panel, and the orange wire to the compressor, as you can see in the directions. If somebody has changed the configuration somehow I strongly recommend replacing the entire harness with the Replacement Wiring Harness # F9307.
Doing so will, I believe, potentially remedy the fuse blowing if the wiring was somehow "modified" or reconfigured. I have also added links to some installation videos which I think may be helpful for you to check out as well.
