What is the Measurement From the Hitch Pin to the End of the Shank On the Thule Post Pro?
Question:
Im looking to purchase a bike rack for my boyfriends birthday this year. In speaking with his parents their current bike rack had to be modified to fit my boyfriends 2012 Honda Civic Class 1 Hitch because the inside part hit on the underside of the car. The current bike rack measures approx 2.5 in from the end of the carrier to the center of the hitch pin. Can you advise what the offset is on the Thule Hitching Post Pro model #TH934XTR.

Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR fits the class I hitch on your boyfriend's 2012 Honda Civic. The reason the old rack didn't fit is because in the past, class I hitches had a weld inside the receiver tube to restrict attachments to class I to keep people from overloading their hitches. What likely happened on the older bike rack is the shank on the rack is only designed for class II hitches and was hitting the weld and had to be cut shorter to work for the class I hitch. This Thule rack is confirmed to fit a class I hitch.
With that being said, I did get the measurement you asked for. The hitch measures 1-3/8 inches from the hitch pin to the end of the shank.
