Is Single Brake Axle Adequate for Tandem Axle Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 3500lb ski boat, 1250lb tandem trailer currently has drum brakes on one axle, which dont work. Was looking at the T4843400 to convert to 4 wheel disk but it is discontinued. Question, would disk brakes on one axle work fine, T4843300, since the boat came with brakes only on one axle or should I go with 4 wheel disk. Most every modern boat has 4 wheel disk.

A single brake axle with disc brakes will do a great job stopping your boat trailer. Have two sets of brakes for both axles would give you better braking power but a single braking axle (the rear axle) is typically more than adequate. Especially if you go with disc since they are more powerful.

So the swing away 3,500 lb disc brake kit part # T4843300 that you referenced would be a great choice.
