Troubleshooting Brakes Not Working with Prodigy Brake Controller Reading Trailer Connected

Question:

have a prodigy brake controller, brand new trailer, controller says c when hooked up, brakes do not work on trailer 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500

If your Prodigy P2 # 90885 says c then that means it is able to read that your brake circuit is completed. Since your brakes aren't working on the trailer it makes me wonder if you're testing them just with the brake pedal or if you're using the manual override.

The P2 is an inertia controller which means if your 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 isn't moving then it won't send as much power back to the brakes. If you're driving on the highway and you hit your brakes then it will apply more power because it can sense the movement.

Try using the manual override lever with the brake controller set to the highest setting and you should see your trailer brakes lock up.
